It was three in the afternoon and Peter and John were going up to the Temple to pray. A man who had been lame from birth was being carried to the Temple gate called Beautiful. He sat at the gate each day begging from those going into the Temple courts. – Slide 1

When the lame man saw Peter and John going into the Temple, he asked them for money. – Slide 2

Peter and John both looked straight at him. Peter said, ‘Look at us.’ The man looked at them hoping for money. Peter continued, ‘I don’t have silver or gold but I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth get up and walk.’ – Slide 3

Peter took him by the hand and helped him to his feet. Instantly the mans ankles and legs became strong. – Slide 4

The man began to walk and followed Peter and John into the Temple courts. Then he started walking and jumping and praising God. – Slide 5

Astonished people started gathering round in the Temple colonnade. ‘Why does this surprise you?’ Peter asked them. ‘It is not by our power or godliness that this man can now walk.’ – Slide 6

‘God has brought glory to Jesus, the one you handed over to be crucified. You killed Jesus but God has raised Him to life.’ – Slide 7

‘It by faith in the name of Jesus that this man is now completely healed - as you can all see.’ – Slide 8

‘I know you did not understand what the prophets foretold that the Messiah must suffer. Repent then and turn to God,’ Peter urged them, ‘So that your sins may be wiped out and times of refreshing can come from the Lord.’ – Slide 9
