When Jesus was alive on this earth He told a story, a true story, about a very, very rich man and a very, very poor man. It’s a story that teaches each of us how to know where we will spend eternity! – Slide 1
This is the rich man. He had everything! Every day he dressed in fancy clothes. He ate the best food in his fancy house. Everyone loved to be with the rich man! – Slide 2
This is Lazarus, a poor beggar man. He had nothing! He was dressed in rags. He was so hungry he wished he could eat the crumbs from the rich man’s table. His only friends were the dogs that would lick his wounds! He begged outside the rich man’s house. But then, Lazarus died! His suffering was over and he went to paradise where he met up with Abraham! – Slide 3
Then, the rich man also died. What a horrible day that was for the rich man! His fun was over, his riches were gone, and he ended up in torment in a place without God. He looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. – Slide 4
The rich man cried out in pain to Abraham, ‘Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and cool off my tongue!’ Abraham pointed out there was a great chasm between heaven and hell that no one could cross. The rich man wanted someone to go and warn his five brothers about hell. ‘They have what God has said in the Bible to warn them,’ Abraham replied. – Slide 5
So what does God say about where we will spend eternity? 1 John 5:12 says, ‘He who has the Son, has the life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.’ The Bible says, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.’ Acts 16:31 – Slide 6
