David and Goliath

David takes on a Philistine giant.

When the Philistine giant Goliath challenged the army of Israel to send someone to fight him, only David, the shepherd boy, was willing to trust God and take on the challenge. Refusing to put on any armour he chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine. – Slide 1

The Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David and mocked him because he was only a boy.  <br/>He said to David, ‘Come here. I’ll feed your body to the birds of the air and the wild animals!’ <br/>David replied, ‘You come to me with a sword, a large spear and a small spear. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of heav-en’s armies. He’s the God of the armies of Isra-el! Today the Lord will give you to me. Then all the world will know there is a God in Israel!’ – Slide 2

As Goliath came near to attack him, David ran quickly to meet him. He took a stone from his pouch. He put it into his sling and slung it. The stone hit the Philistine on his forehead and sank into it. Goliath fell facedown on the ground. – Slide 3

David defeated the Philistine with only a sling and a stone! David ran and stood beside the Philistine. He took Goliath’s sword out of its holder and killed him. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they turned and ran. – Slide 4
