One evening, Jesus went with His disciples to pray in a garden outside the city of Jerusalem. – Slide 1

Suddenly a group of soldiers came. They arrested Jesus and took Him away. – Slide 2

Jesus was condemned to die, even though He had done nothing wrong. Jesus died to take away the punishment we deserve for all the wrong things we do. He chose to die for us because He loves us so much. – Slide 3

Jesus’ body was taken and put in a tomb. – Slide 4

A big stone was rolled in front of the entrance of the tomb. – Slide 5

Two soldiers stood in front of Jesus' grave to guard it. – Slide 6

But the story does not end there. Three days later a wonderful miracle happened. Angels appeared and rolled away the stone! – Slide 7

The soldiers were afraid and ran away. – Slide 8

Some women who were Jesus' friends came to visit His tomb. – Slide 9

But when they looked inside the tomb, Jesus' body was gone! – Slide 10

An angel told them that God had raised Jesus to life. Jesus was alive! – Slide 11

Jesus' friends were so happy! They quickly went away to tell the disciples. – Slide 12

When Peter and John heard the news they did not know what to think, so they ran to the tomb. – Slide 13

To their amazement, the tomb was empty! Where is Jesus? they wondered. – Slide 14

Peter and John went back to their house, But Mary Magdalene stayed at the tomb crying. She missed Jesus. 'Why are you crying?' a man asked. – Slide 15

Mary Magdalene thought it was the gardener. So she asked Him, 'Where have you taken Jesus? Please tell me.' – Slide 16

'Mary,' said Jesus. It is Me. Go and tell the others that I am alive! Mary Magdalene was so happy to see Jesus!' – Slide 17

She ran as fast as she could to tell the others the good news that Jesus had come back to life. – Slide 18

Later that evening the disciples were gathered together ... – Slide 19

... when suddenly Jesus appeared to them! – Slide 20

Jesus stayed with the disciples for a while and taught them many things. They were happy to have Jesus with them again. – Slide 21

Soon Jesus needed to return to His Father in heaven. He told His disciples, 'Go and tell everyone in the world the good news about Me.' – Slide 22

'And don't worry,' Jesus added. 'I will always be with you in spirit.' – Slide 23

Then Jesus went to be with His Father – God, and the disciples returned home without Him. They started telling people that Jesus is alive and has made a way for them to be forgiven and know God. – Slide 24

Every Easter we celebrate Jesus' resurrection, and the wonderful gift of salvation Jesus gave us through His death and resurrection. Jesus lives! – Slide 25
