David lived in the palace with Saul the king. He played music and he would sing praises to God. – Slide 1

Jonathan, king Saul’s son, became David’s best friend. They worked, prayed, and had fun. They worshipped God in all they did. – Slide 2

David was also a soldier for King Saul and was very successful in battle. He had more victories than Saul and became a popular hero with the people. – Slide 3

One day after battle, the people sang, “Saul has killed his thousands, but David has killed his tens of thousands.” Saul became very angry and jealous. He was afraid the people would make David their king. – Slide 4

Saul was so jealous and angry he wanted David dead. When David began to sing for Saul, the king picked up his spear and flung it at David. It missed and David fled. With help from Jonathan, David ran away and went into hiding. – Slide 5
