During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, whomever they requested. – Slide 1

A man named Barabbas was in prison with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection. – Slide 2

Then the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to release a prisoner, as was his custom. – Slide 3

So Pilate asked them, ‘Do you want me to release the King of the Jews for you?’ He knew the Chief Priest had handed Him over because of envy. – Slide 4

As he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message to him. ‘Have nothing to do with that innocent man. – Slide 5

‘I have suffered greatly as a result of a dream about Him today.’ – Slide 6

But the Chief Priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus killed. – Slide 7

The Governor asked them, ‘Which of the two do you want me to release for you?’ And they said, ‘Barabbas!’ – Slide 8

Then Pilate took Jesus and had Him severely flogged. – Slide 9

The soldiers braided a crown of thorns and put it on His head. – Slide 10

And they clothed Him in a purple robe. They came up to Him again and again and said, ‘Hail King of the Jews!’ And they struck Him repeatedly in the face. – Slide 11
