Abram and Lot choose where to live

Abram, his wife Sarai and Lot left Egypt with everything they owned. Abram was very rich in cattle, silver and gold. – Slide 1

They headed back to Canaan to a place between Bethel and Ai where Abram had previously built an altar. – Slide 2

They set up camp here and Abram worshipped God. – Slide 3

Abram and Lot had so many animals that the land could not support them all. Abram’s herders and Lot’s herders began to argue over the pasture land and water. – Slide 4

So, Abram said to Lot, ‘There should be no arguing between you and me. Your herders and mine should not argue either. We are family. We should go and find new places to live and feed our animals. The whole land is in front of you. If you go to the left, I will go to the right. If you go to the right, I will go to the left.’ – Slide 5

Lot looked all around and saw the whole Jordan Valley. He saw that there was much water there. It was very fertile land like that he had seen in Egypt. – Slide 6

So, Lot chose to move and live in the Jordan Valley in a place near Sodom. Now the people of Sodom were very evil and always disobeying God. However, it was where Lot wanted to live and bring up his family. – Slide 7

After Lot left, the Lord said to Abram, ‘Look all around you. Look north and south and east and west.  All this land that you see I will give to you and your descendants forever. I will make your descendants as many as the dust of the earth. Get up! Walk through all this land. I am now giving it to you.’ – Slide 8

So Abram moved his tents. He went to live near the great trees of Mamre. This was at the city of Hebron. – Slide 9

There he built an altar to the Lord and worshipped Him. – Slide 10
