Jesus gives His verdict on a woman accused of adultery.

Jesus had been staying on the Mount of Olives and early in the morning He travelled to the Temple in Jerusalem. – Slide 1

A crowd soon gathered and Jesus started teaching them. – Slide 2

The Jewish leaders and Pharisees had been trying to trap Jesus into saying something they could use against Him. They grabbed a woman who had been caught in adultery and dragged her before Jesus and the crowd He was teaching. – Slide 3

‘Teacher,’ they said to Jesus, ‘this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. Moses’ law says she should be stoned to death. What do you say about this?’ – Slide 4

Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger. When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’ Then Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground once more. – Slide 5

The Jewish leaders and Pharisees wondered what to do. – Slide 6

Then one by one the Jewish leaders and Pharisees started to leave. The oldest ones left first. – Slide 7

Then the younger men accusing the woman started leaving until they were all gone. – Slide 8

Eventually only the woman was left standing there before the crowd. Jesus stood up and said, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir,’ she said. – Slide 9

‘Then neither do I condemn you,’­ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’ – Slide 10
