In the land of Egypt, Potiphar was a very important man. He was the Captain of the soldiers who guarded King Pharaoh. – Slide 1

Potiphar bought Joseph from the Ishmaelite traders to be his servant. Joseph loved God. He always worked hard and was honest and reliable. Potiphar began to trust Joseph and put him in charge of everything that he owned. – Slide 2

One day, when no one was looking, Potiphar’s wife tried to get Joseph to come to her bed. ‘No,’ said Joseph. ‘My master trusts me. I would never let him down and in God’s eyes it would not be right.’ – Slide 3

Another time, when there was no one else in the house except for Potiphar’s wife and Joseph, she pestered him again. Again Joseph said ‘No,’ and ran from the room, slipping out of his coat as she grabbed it. – Slide 4

Potiphar’s wife was so angry that she wanted to get Joseph into trouble. She called for the other servants. ‘Joseph tried to get into my bed,’ she said. ‘When I screamed he ran off and left his coat behind.’ – Slide 5

When Potiphar came home, his wife showed him Joseph’s coat and told him the lie. Potiphar was very angry and put Joseph into prison. But Joseph still trusted God and knew that God was with him. – Slide 6

Joseph prayed, ‘God help me to show others your love.’ He began to help the prison guard in any way he could. The guard soon saw how honest, reliable, kind and unselfish Joseph was and how much he trusted God. – Slide 7

God’s favour and blessing was on Joseph and it wasn’t long before he was in charge of everything in the prison. Wherever you are God is always with you and you can serve God by serving others. – Slide 8
