People were frightened of Saul of Tarsus because he arrested people who believed in Jesus. But one day his life was changed when God spoke to him on the road to Damascus. – Slide 1

Saul of Tarsus used to punish anyone who believed in Jesus until he became a follower of Jesus Christ himself and was baptised. He stayed with Christians in Damascus for a few days. – Slide 2

He was so excited when he understood who Jesus was and wanted to tell the Jewish leaders Jesus Christ was God’s Son, the promised Messiah. Everyone was surprised Saul was now a Christian. – Slide 3

Many believed and became Christians too, but some of the Jews wanted to get rid of him. They watched at the city gate day and night, waiting for a chance to grab Saul and kill him. – Slide 4

God warned Saul not to leave the city through the gate, so he waited until it was dark and his friends took him to a window on the city wall. – Slide 5

They put Saul in a basket and very quietly lowered him down on a rope. He landed safely outside the city and they quickly pulled up the empty basket. – Slide 6

Saul walked along the road to Jerusalem, thanking God for keeping him safe. He knew that some people would still be afraid of him because he had arrested so many Christians. – Slide 7

Saul began telling everyone about Jesus and Barnabas welcomed him as a brother. Saul became the Apostle Paul and a wise teacher who wrote some of the Bible. – Slide 8
