One day as Jesus was coming towards Jerusalem He told two of His disciples to go to a nearby village. ‘You will find a donkey there,’ said Jesus. ‘Untie it and bring it to me. If anyone asks what you are doing you must say the Lord needs it.’ – Slide 1

The two disciples did as they were told and found the donkey tied up outside the house. As they began to lead it away the owners came out and asked what they were doing. ‘The Lord needs it,’ they replied. The owners were happy to let their donkey be used by Jesus. – Slide 2

When the disciples returned, they put their coats on the donkey and Jesus sat on it. Then He rode off towards Jerusalem followed by the disciples. – Slide 3

As Jesus travelled towards the city the crowds began to throw their coats and palm branches on to the ground before Him. They shouted loudly, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’ – Slide 4

As Jesus came near the Mount of Olives His disciples were thankful for all the miracles they had seen Jesus do. They began to praise Him saying, ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.’ – Slide 5

There were some Pharisees in the crowd who did not like to hear people praising Jesus. ‘Tell your disciples to stop,’ they demanded. But Jesus replied, ‘If they keep silent the very stones would cry out in praise instead.’ – Slide 6
