Jeremiah - God's spokesman

God chooses Jeremiah to be His spokesman.

Jeremiah was the son of a priest in Israel so he was quite used to hearing about God. But one day God actually spoke to Jeremiah and asked him to become His spokesman. He would pass on God’s messages to everyone. What God said to Jeremiah helps us understand a bit more about God himself and how much he knows about us. – Slide 1

God told Jeremiah, ‘Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.’ – Slide 2

God said, ‘Before you were born I chose you to be a prophet to the nations.’ – Slide 3

Jeremiah told the Lord, ‘But I am too young to speak for you. I am no good at speaking in public.’ – Slide 4

But the Lord said, ‘Don’t, say that you are too young. You must go to everyone I send you and say whatever I command you. Don’t be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you.’ – Slide 5

Then the Lord reached out His hand and touched Jeremiah’s mouth. ‘I have put my words in your mouth,’ God explained. – Slide 6

‘I am going to make you my spokesman. You will tell kings, leaders and the people that I am going to uproot, tear down and overthrow nations that disobey me. You will also say that God will build up and plant those who obey Him.’ – Slide 7

So Jeremiah set off to speak God’s words. Whatever God told him to say came true. Many did not like the messages Jeremiah gave and tried to harm him. But God kept His promise, ‘I am with you and will rescue you.’ No-one could harm Jeremiah as God was protecting him. – Slide 8
