Their faith helped them conquer kingdoms and because they did right, God made promises to them. – Slide 3

They closed the jaws of lions and put out raging fires … – Slide 4

… and escaped from the swords of their enemies. – Slide 5

Although they were weak … – Slide 6

… they were given the strength to chase foreign armies away. – Slide 7

Some women received their loved ones back from death. – Slide 8

Many of these people were tortured but they refused to be released. They were sure they would get a better reward when the dead were raised to life. – Slide 9

Others were made fun of, or beaten with whips, and some were chained or put in jail. – Slide 10

Still others were stoned to death, or sawn in two, or killed with swords. – Slide 11

Some had nothing but sheepskins or goatskins to wear. They were poor, mistreated and tortured. – Slide 12

The world did not deserve these good people who had to wander in deserts, and on mountains … – Slide 13

… and had to live in caves and holes in the ground. – Slide 14

All of them pleased God because of their faith, but still they died without being given what had been promised. – Slide 15

This was because God had something better in store for us. – Slide 16

And they did not want to reach the goal of their faith without us. – Slide 17
