Abram (later Abraham) is called to leave Ur and go to Canaan. God promises him that he will become the father of a great nation. But Abram and his wide Sarah remain childless. <br/>Genesis 11-15. – Slide 1

Abram has a son by Sarah’s servant Hagar and names the child Ishmael. <br/>Genesis 16-20. – Slide 2

God keeps his promise to Abraham and Sarah has a son named Isaac. <br/>Genesis 21. – Slide 3

God tests Abraham’s faith by asking him to sacrifice his son. Abraham in faith goes ahead but God intervenes to provide a ram for sacrifice instead.<br/>Genesis 22. – Slide 4

Isaac grows up and Abraham send his servant on an errand to find a wife for his son. Isaac marries Rebekah and they have twins – Esau and Jacob. <br/>Jacob deceives Isaac into giving him the birthright of Esau. He then flees his brother’s wrath to live with Laban’s family. <br/>Genesis 23-28. – Slide 5

Jacob is deceived by Laban into marrying Leah instead of her younger sister Rachel. He works another seven years to have Rachel as his bride.  But once he has built up his own flocks, Jacob returns to Canaan and a reunion with his brother Esau. Jacob has twelve sons and lives to be 143 years old. Genesis 29-36. – Slide 6
