When the Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus ordered a census, everyone had to return to the town they were born to register. – Slide 1

For Mary and Joseph this meant a long trip south to Bethlehem. – Slide 2

When they arrived in Bethlehem the town was crowded and there was nowhere for them to stay. – Slide 3
