After feeding over 5,000 people Jesus made the disciples get into their boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side of Lake Galilee. Jesus stayed to dismiss the large crowd. – Slide 1

After the crowds had gone, Jesus went up a mountainside by himself to pray. – Slide 2

Later that night the disciples in the boat had travelled 3-4 miles (4-6km) and were halfway across the large lake. They were buffeted by large waves as they faced a strong headwind. – Slide 3

Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the water. – Slide 4

When the disciples saw a figure walking on the water towards them, they were terrified. ‘It’s a ghost,’ they cried out in fear. – Slide 5

Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’ – Slide 6

‘Lord, if it is really you,’ Peter asked, ‘tell me to walk to you on the water.’ – Slide 7

‘Come to me,’ Jesus replied. – Slide 8

Peter got down out of the boat and started walking on the water towards Jesus. – Slide 9

But when he saw the wind and waves, he was afraid and, began to sink. ‘Lord, save me!’ he cried. – Slide 10

Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. – Slide 11

The Jesus spoke to Peter. ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?’ – Slide 12

Jesus and Peter moved back to the boat and climbed in. – Slide 13

And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. – Slide 14

Those in the boat worshiped Jesus, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’ – Slide 15
